Step 3 Marriott Bonvoy Hotel Status Match
Another important step in this status match process is enrolling and upgrading to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite. If you have been following along since our first step, you have noticed that having the American Express Platinum Card come with an automatic Marriott Elite Gold Membership Tier. If you haven’t enrolled or upgraded to your Marriott Gold Elite Tier, please do so now before moving forward.
Enrolling and Upgrading to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite
By upgrading to the Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status you will get these awesome perks:

It is important to note that once you complete the Marriott Bonvoy Benefit Enrollment to their Gold Elite Member Level, this status level will apply to the rest of their brands which include:

An Alternate Upgrade Route with a Higher Tier Option
However, before using the American Express Platinum Perk of obtaining the Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status; on the Marriott website itself, it states that Hilton Honor Gold or Hilton Honor Diamond Members can be matched to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite.
You have the option of getting the Upgrade to Hilton Gold Status and then going calling Marriott Bonvoy at 800-535-4028 and ask for a Marriott Bonvoy representative (if you are not immediately directed to one). Indicate that you have elite status with another hotel program and would like to try out Marriott Bonvoy’s elite status and ask for a status match for your Hilton Honors Gold to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite. It is important to point out that if you take this route to upgrade to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, you need to stay a number of nights within 90 days in order to keep your Platinum Elite Status with Marriott.
If you obtain your upgrade to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status, that status will last as long as you are an American Express Platinum card holder or as long as the benefit lasts from American Express. In this case, we recommend upgrading to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite via the American Express Platinum Credit Card perk since it will last longer.
